The Data Methods story started in 2008 when Nathan Eastman opened a data consulting company Ragged Top, named after a mountain in his home state of Alaska. Over the years, the company’s client base grew, and Nathan eventually moved his existing clients over to the new company he founded, Data Methods.
While the name may have changed, our company’s commitment to our customers never wavered. We view every client as a true collaborator in building the data solutions that are right for them. Our goal is to earn your trust by building a better future for your company.

NATHAN EASTMAN -
OWNER & FOUNDER
Nathan has more than 20 years of experience in data analysis and database architecture, including developing web applications, database applications, data warehouses, and analytics and reporting tools.
His experience working with companies of all sizes, including Fortune 500 and Fortune 10 businesses, gives him a broad understanding of data needs across a variety of industries.
One of his specialties is acting in a strategic capacity to help companies understand the type of system they need as well as the type of expertise needed to run the data management system. He also helps firms identify blind spots and proposes solutions to get the most out of their data.
As far as his own company goes, Nathan believes leading by example is the only way to run a company. “I’m very much a fan of servant leadership. I see my job as what do I need to do to help you be successful.”
JONATHAN RAY -
VP OF SALES & OPERATIONS
Jonathan Ray is the VP of Sales and Operations of Data Methods.
He is a Visionary Leader and Team Development Expert with over 15 years experience in sales, coaching & leadership within the technology industry. Previously, Jonathan worked as an Enterprise Director at one of the largest and most innovative telecommunications companies in the country.
With his consultative background in business and his experience working with companies of all sizes, including Fortune 500 businesses, Jonathan has a thorough understanding how to conduct a business needs analysis to help determine the best solutions across a variety of industries.
With his visionary leadership style to business, he excels in helping companies grow, unite teams, align culture and helps overall improve strategy, technologies and practices.

LAUREN
Lauren comes to data science from a background in biology education. She graduated from the Data Scientist Program at the Flatiron School in 2020. Since graduation, she has worked under experienced data scientists in the financial services sector. Lauren has completed several data science projects using credit union transaction data to predict customer behavior.

VINCE
Vince has over 30 years of experience in making data work. One of his early projects involved working on a profitability analysis system for a major retailer, shortly after the publication of an influential book on dimensional modeling. This was followed by dozens of projects designing and building data warehouses in the US, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand, across a broad spectrum of technology platforms and products. His projects have spanned verticals including banking and finance, insurance, retail, and manufacturing.

DOUGLAS
Douglas has more than 20 years of experience helping organizations build data warehouses across a wide variety of data platforms. In that time, Douglas has honed a solution delivery approach that significantly reduces risk by applying automation, agility, and modeling at the proper levels to facilitate communication and speed. Before his current role as Chief Architect, Douglas has held various technical and operational positions at WhereScape and Microsoft Consulting Services

MICHAEL
Michael is a Principal Data Scientist and an active Advisory Board member at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s School of Data Science (SDS). In his current role, he develops machine learning and statistical models to aid in the solution of complex business problems. Michael has also served as a Lead Technical Developer and Systems Analyst where he contributed to enterprise development efforts and large-scale system architecture. Michael is proficient in R, Java/Spring, SQL, and Bash/Linux. Michael is a former Lecturer of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he taught courses in machine learning and data mining. Michael holds a Master of Arts from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is also a Notre Dame National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Fellow.
